Catalina Island

Last week we headed over to Catalina Island for a little rest and relaxation.

This was the view from our bed and breakfast!

A couple fun facts about Catalina Island:

*About 88% of the island lies undeveloped, protected by the Santa Catalina Conservancy.

*The island was purchased by William Wrigley Jr. (of the Wrigley gum company) back in 1919.

*The Chicago Cubs baseball team used to hold their spring training on the island!

*There are only 800 cars allowed on the island, and the waiting list to get a car is about 15 years! So many people drive golf carts around the city.

*There are bison that roam the island. Back in the 1920's, fourteen bison were brought to the island to film a Western movie and there are now about 150 bison on the island! We took a tour of the island and got to see some of the bison up close and personal.

Would you believe we even ran into one of my co-workers while we were there!?! It's a small world.

Zane Grey was great, such a great idea for a wedding present, thanks again to you guys and your parents. I just can't believe it's taken this long to finally nail down a weekend to go. We talked about it all the time, and it finally worked out. Definitely worth the wait.

Nice pictures; but you really do need to update your blog more often!
